Blogger's having a hard time letting me comment today. No pressure or anything, but if you ever think about switching blogging platorms, let me suggest wordpress.com

Anyway, here's a very funny review panning the Zune: http://www.suntimes.com/technology/ihnatko/147048,CST-FIN-Andy23.article

One of the money quotes: "The installer app failed, and an hour into the ordeal, I found myself asking my office goldfish, "Has it really come to this? Am I really about to manually create and install a .dll file? But there it was, right on the Zune's tech support page. Is this really what parents want to be doing at 4 a.m. on Christmas morning?"

That article was awesome! My favorite line: "I've spent a week setting this thing up and using it, and the overall experience is about as pleasant as having an airbag deploy in your face."

BTW, what do you like better about Wordpress?

Yeah, I thought you'd like that article.

I've installed and evaluated lots of blogging platforms. Wordpress seems to be the most stable. It has a lot of themes (so you can choose a look you like) and it is easy to customize with new features. I'm using a blog platform that I paid for last year on brianjones.org and I'm getting ready to change over to Wordpress. It is free (open source) and just works better. You can use a program like Ecto on your Mac that lets you write the posts, spellcheck them, and save them on the Mac, then it automatically uploads to Wordpress.

I hesitiated to recommend Wordpress to other people when it required you to have your own domain (eg brianjones.org) and hosting, but with wordpress.com they now have free hosting. Their free hosting seems more flexible letting you customize your free account than other free hosted blogs. My friend Richard switched from blogger to wordpress and seems happy. Also, they have stuff that will import all your old posts from blogger, so you won't lose all those killer YouTube videos you've been posting lately.

Anyway, if you're happy with Blogger than stick with it. But I've just known enough Blogger bloggers who were frustrated that I thought I'd mention what is (IMO) the best alternative.

I actually signed up for an account last night after reading your post just to check it out. It seemed like a good user interface. I wondered if there was a way to import archives from another service. I like the history; it's like a family diary. Blogger has some new features in the works that I think I might wait and see. Thanks for the info. If you make the switch, let me know how it goes.

We loved the video. We've even got Jeffrey saying "it's crack-a-lackin"
